Design & Construction

Inspiration for each piece comes from the natural world and often from the character of the animals and birds I live with. I love the way bold colours emphasise the energy of a design so will try to use as much as a piece can accommodate.

I draw each design and use the template as a deconstructed jigsaw trying to match each piece with fabric to add colour and the suggestion of texture. The design is appliqued onto face fabric and then free-motion quilted to add more texture and a luxurious feel.

The completed design is then used to make wall hangings or cushions with embellishments like piping or beadwork.
